Looks like the BBS is breaking up. There is now a second AZ Virtual Jeep
Club BBS.

Lol...
The BBS is not breaking up... This is just another splinter group doing as
they choose... It is a good thing!

I think that got "censored". :-)
I agree, very interesting. Nice to see part of the group getting back to
it's roots, not trying to make money. Looks like a couple of the "heavy
hitters" from the old days are already over there - Hackle, Joe Darro, etc.
I may have to actually join a web-based-forum (gasp!) and check it out.

And this from Don Pryor:
"We wanted to get the Arizona Jeeping Community back to its roots of
talking about Jeeps and Wheeling."
"this board is setup for the Members of the AZ Virtual Jeep Club and
not as a revenue opportunity for anyone including Vendors."
"I have spent the better part of the last 4 years fighting for the
rights of the OHV user in Arizona and on a national level."
"I built this board to help bring us back together after garnering
input from a core group of long time users and also the last remaining
founder of the AZVJC. "
Yea, sure!
You can "see all threads started by"_______ with a simple click and
that function is open to everyone I believe. Their posts say volumes.
I moved here in '02, didn't know a soul and certainly had no built in
biases against ANYONE or ANYTHING. In my time on the internet, since
1978 and having been and am on all kinds of forums from autos to
welding along with many in-between I can honestly say: I have never
seen the absolute HATE, ANGER and DRAMA that has been displayed on our
forum by a handful of folks. I have seen folks beat down many members
on here and its has been the same folks time and time again. That
said its not rare but I think its been the worst and lasted the
longest on this forum.
My experience on forums tells me that those who speak the loudest of
getting back to Jeeps and wheeling are the ones who contribute the
least to it.
Not so strange in that the above words are not rare and in fact I
have seen them on several boards that struggled. On one major board
they had a house cleaning and most of the "old timers" and hate
mongers got the boot. The board has flourished and is bigger than
ever. I can also tell you that there is NO tolerance for the behavior
once displayed. And the mods moderate, if not they are gone. Also
when they show the favoritism that some of our mods showed of late
there were gone.
As one who has been involved in hunting, land and water issues for
over 15 years all I can say is look at the track record of the efforts
that have taken place here in AZ. If past performance is an indicator
of future success or failure we are on the ropes here in AZ and I am
sure soon to be on the mat taking the 10 count.
If that was our "core group" we were rotting from the core out.
Having said that its not a blanket statement of all. There are or so
I feel some good folks there albeit I am at a loss as to why they
would follow such leadership. And I even seen some names there that
surprised me. But nagging in the back of my mind is the old
saying...'see your friends, see you'

And finally this from Joe:
Hi Leonard,
I don't honestly think any polls you may wish to put on the azvjc bbs site
will be productive.
I¹m guessing the response you'd get would likely not be one you would
wish... And in the end I'm sure folks
Might question the legitimacy /validity of such a poll.
The URL belongs to Matt and ultimately, he should do as he feels best.
The Rock Rats page started because they did not like being forced to conform
to the BBS rules... A great reason (in my mind) to start your own site.
Their new site (I suspect anyway) will be much more free (literally and
figuratively). Say what you want, post what you want... In fact, behave how
you see fit.
I think this type of format is preferable to some people... It just doesn¹t
happen to fit how I believe people should act.
The beauty of this free market is that in the long run; the concept which
more closely fills the needs of the members of the Arizona Virtual Jeep Club
will rise to the top...
And the format that fails to fill the needs will languish in relative
obscurity.
What's neat about this is; it is all good.
If in the end, the vision I have of the Virtual Jeep Club does not
survive... It simply means that I was able to provide a stepping stone to
something bigger and better...
Ultimately... I find honor in being part of the path.
