'Check Gauges' Light
#1
I just drove the Jeep to work today for the first time in a while. I forgot how it drives... crappy steering, vibration at 70mph (need those control arms) which are both semi-normal for the Jeep, but then the "check gauges" light came on. I'm sitting there staring at all the gauges.... they all looked normal. I kept re-reading the light and re-checking the gauges, thinking I was missing something or I read it wrong, but nothing. Any suggestions? Haven't researched it on the internet yet.

From a quick google search I saw possible grounding issue or alternator going bad

Or something as simple as making sure the gas cap is tight...

Yeah I've had that one happen before but the "Check Engine" light came on. I just tightened it and it cleared.

Do a guage check.

Hold in the trip odometer button, then turn the key to the on position (do not start the vehicle). It will run a test on all of your guages, you have to watch and make sure they all move properly or come on but that is the best way to see if one of them is not working.

sorry, didn't read the title fully. I thought it was the check engine light, not the check gauges light. Please return to your normal programming... there is nothing to see here, folks...

Why are you just repeating what I am saying, come up with your own idea :)=)

Just because you put a fancy link to another post does not make your better than mine.

Yep take the radiator cap off and drive a new jeep under it... :))

Dana, odds are there isn't anything going on. Might've lost connection to one of the guauges for a second. Mine will do that when I am at a steep angle of some sorts. Odds are that it will not come on again when you re-start the vehicle.

But what if the radiator cap doesn't fit the new Jeep?

Happy birthday!!!!!

Had trouble starting the Jeep after work and had to double foot it for a second 'cause it was trying to die on me when stopped....

Turns out it was just a loose/dirty battery connection. Thanks everyone!
