Survival Class by Scott Kozakiewicz Sunday, Nov. 9

Scott Kozakiewicz, expert in outdoor survival, has agreed to provide a Survival Class for the offroad community on Sunday, November 9th. This will be a day long class followed by a BBQ. Location is still to be determined, but will be out in the desert somewhere for hands on activities.

If you are interested in attending, please send me an email at "virgil at silhanek.com" so I can keep track of who will be attending and also distribute further details as the date gets closer.

Keep us informed on the times. I'd be interested but have some other stuff going on that day so don't know if it will work out.

Sorry for the lack of details at this point. The cost, if any, will be minimal. Right now, we wanted to get the date out so people can start putting it on their schedule.

Thanks everyone that has signed up. Here is the information for this Sunday as of now. I think we currently have over 30 people signed up to attend.

What: Outdoor Survival Class
When: Sunday, November 9th – 9am-5pm with bonfire at 5pm.
Where: South Mountain Park Entrance off Central Avenue (Exact directions inside park will be at main gate.)
Cost: Free

Scott said he can tailor this class to cover any material we want. Please let me know if you have any special requests for what you would like to learn. As most of us will be out with a 4x4 vehicle, the scenarios we'll encounter will be slightly different than if we were backpacking out in the wilderness.

Please bring your own lunch. Also, bring your own food to cook over the bonfire. We will not have time to leave the park for lunch.

Also, does anyone have EZ-UP awnings that they can bring? We'd like to get a handful of these for shade.

Ok, this is probably my final update before Sunday unless something major changes.

Scott found out that South Mountain Park does not allow fires, so our bonfire is out. Please bring your own camp stoves, etc.

We still could use a few EZ-Up awnings for shade. If you have one, please bring it.

You are responsible for your own food (lunch and supper), water, snacks, etc. Be prepared for a full day outside.
