Question about CJ5's
#1
Hey folks, I'm asking this here cause I don't know the first thing about CJ's.

I have recently offered up my 96 XJ for sale or trade. I have one person wanting to trade a 73 CJ5 straight across for it. I haven't seen it in person but the pics look nice.

Says it has a rebuilt "inline v6" will have to clarify that one, new 31" tires and a 3 speed tranny. Any info on this if it is otherwise stock and whould this be a bad deal?

If you think that a cj will cost you less than an XJ in the way of fixing it... you need to keep on walking.

Good looking CJ. Something that old is going to have problems. Look for rust because they all have it... The 6cyl is a great eng. Easy swap to a 360. Lifts are cheap.
CJ5's are a short wheel base rig. They like to take a nap on the trail if you get them tippy or nose up...

Hope that helps

I was looking to trade for an older Chevy but this guy offered this up so I thought I'd post it here to get an opinion.

These guys definately know their jeeps... I would give Joe @ Absolute Offroad a call and get his opinion if you can. He is a really good guy that will give you his .02 worth. He works on these things every day and has done so for a long time.

Keep us posted on what you decide to do.
