COURSE DESCRIPTION: Introduction To Search And Rescue provides the introduction to ground search and rescue for first responders. Instruction includes the initial stage of a SAR incident, gathering information, determining urgency of response, and establishing the first priorities during the opening phase of SAR operations. Topics include: Incident Command System, basic navigation, search and rescue resources, search philosophy, search tactics, clue consciousness, search operations, and lost person behavior,. ISAR is designed to provide the basic level of SAR knowledge needed by persons involved in the early phase of SAR operations.
Introduction To Search And Rescue prepares the student for SARTECH III CERTIFICATION. The SARTECH III certification exam will be offered Sunday afternoon for those desiring to become a Certified Search And Rescue Technician III.

SARTECH III CERTIFICATION: Introduction To Search And Rescue is a program offered through the National Association For Search And Rescue (NASAR). The textbook and class content prepare the student for the SARTECH III certification examination. The SARTECH III examination will be administered Sunday afternoon at the end of the class. Students may attend the class without taking the certification test. There is an additional $60 fee paid to NASAR for certification as a SARTECH. Students intending to take the certification test will need to bring a check for $60 to the class, made out to NASAR. Please visit the NASAR website www.nasar.org for additional information on search and rescue and the SARTECH certification program.
TEXTBOOK: "Introduction To Search And Rescue, 2nd Edition 2008" is required for the class. The text may be ordered from the NASAR website for $25.00 plus S&H. To order; go to www.nasar.org, then store, then books, then NASAR Educational Materials, then select Introduction to Search And Rescue. Please order your text in time to read it prior to class. There will not be time to read the text in one weekend.

SARTECH III Certification exam (optional) - $60 to NASAR at the
time of the test.
