The Gila County Sheriff's Office is searching for a missing Scottsdale man who was believed to be four-wheeling in the Tonto Basin area.
Jason Witherill, 29, was last seen at the Jakes Corner Store on Highway 188 in Payson around noon on Wednesday.
Authorities believe he was four wheeling in the Four Peaks area or in the area on the east side of Roosevelt Lake.
Witherill is 6 feet 2, approximately 200 pounds and has blue flames tattooed on his wrists. He was driving a black 1979 Chevy Blazer with Arizona license plate number 907XDJ.
A DPS Helicopter Ranger was searching the Tonto Basin and Four Peak areas.
Witherill is a member of Virtual Jeep Club, a four-wheel drive club, and its members are helping with the search.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Gila County Sheriff's Office at (928)474-2208 or (866)866-4452.
There's the thread. It's quite a long read by now. They are resuming search in the morning at 0800. He's not a VJC member, but a friend of a friend from the NAXJA board or something like that.
