Hey Bob, ready for Obama to tell you how much your worth?

But now, in a little-noticed move, the House Financial Services Committee, led by chairman Barney Frank, has approved a measure that would, in some key ways, go beyond the most draconian features of the original AIG bill. The new legislation, the "Pay for Performance Act of 2009," would impose government controls on the pay of all employees -- not just top executives -- of companies that have received a capital investment from the U.S. government. It would, like the tax measure, be retroactive, changing the terms of compensation agreements already in place. And it would give Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner extraordinary power to determine the pay of thousands of employees of American companies.

The purpose of the legislation is to "prohibit unreasonable and excessive compensation and compensation not based on performance standards," according to the bill's language. That includes regular pay, bonuses -- everything -- paid to employees of companies in whom the government has a capital stake, including those that have received funds through the Troubled Assets Relief Program, or TARP, as well as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

The measure is not limited just to those firms that received the largest sums of money, or just to the top 25 or 50 executives of those companies. It applies to all employees of all companies involved, for as long as the government is invested. And it would not only apply going forward, but also retroactively to existing contracts and pay arrangements of institutions that have already received funds.

So, what do you think your new pay will be under Obama?

We had to see this coming. After all the dust settles, and things turn around and there was no longer a need for government to control our lives this Admin would have nothing. This only ensures more of the same, take away more peoples pay, make them start to lose everything and then the government will blame the previous admin and have to bail this group out too. They are just creating job security for themselves and using scapegoats. Change, ain't it grand?

On Monday morning, President Obama announced that the Treasury Department would back the warranties of new General Motors and Chrysler vehicles.

“If you buy a car from Chrysler or General Motors, you will be able to get your car serviced and repaired, just like always,” President Obama said during a speech from the White House. “Your warranty will be safe. In fact, it will be safer than it’s ever been, because starting today, the United States government will stand behind your warranty."

I'm thinking about going to the Phoenix one. Just got this in an email.

Dear Arizona Taxpayer:

If you have not responded already, please let us know if you plan to attend the Phoenix or Tucson Tea Parties on April 15th.

Details about the events are available below, and at www.aztaxpayers.org.

What: PHOENIX TEA PARTY

Wow: KFYI 550 AM will be broadcasting live from the rally!

When: Wednesday, April 15, 2009 5:30 to 7:00 pm

Where: Arizona State Capitol, Senate Lawn

Who: The AZ chapter of American for Prosperity (www.aztaxpayers.org), KFYI 550 AM, Prop 13 Arizona, Arizona Tax Revolt, AmericanPoliticalAnalysis.com, FreedomWorks, many other allied pro-taxpayer organizations, a thousand-plus taxpayer activists from around the state, Arizona Senator Russell Pearce and Arizona’s best legislators, and several local media personalities, including J.D Hayworth, Bruce Jacobs, Mike Broomhead, from KFYI and Austin Hill from KTAR 92.3 FM.

Why: We need to protest (and stop!) the tax increases proposed by big-spending politicians at the federal, state, and local levels. Our message in a nutshell: NO NEW TAXES!

Parking: We are arranging for overflow parking near the Legislature, but early-birds will be able to park in the lots next to Wesley Bolin Park (east of 17th Avenue), and west of the Executive Tower (east of 19th Avenue). Carpooling with friends is a good idea!

How: Please let us know you will attend by sending an email to infoAZ@afphq.org. If you can send us your state legislative district (not your Congressional district), or if you can send us your city and zip code, we will let your state legislators know how many of their constituents will be joining them at the Capitol on April 15th.
