term limits

Are you in favor of term limits for congressmen and senators?

Heres one that I was thinking of

Senators and Congressman can server no more then 2 consecutive terms. They may run for reelection after sitting out a period of 1 term

No change to the Presidential term limits

What do you think?

no comments?

who voted no?

Heres what I posed on the VJC about it

I really believe that the system is broken because of career politicians. They create rules and regulations specifically so they can stay in power. A lot of people in Washington are more interested in their own personal well being and safety then actually listening to the will of the people

We have senators who have been in power for 20+ years. Some are even second generation congressman!

As for creating law without any guidance, all they need to do is follow what the Constitution says. It's really not that difficult to look at the proposed bill, check the constitution to see if it violates it in any way. If it does, they vote no. If it doesn't they vote yes.

The people have given up too many of our freedoms and personal choices in favor of living our lives on autopilot and not accepting responsibility for themselves.

One recent example that comes to mind is the baseball steroid scandal. Why on earth is Congress investigating a private business and holding hearings about baseball?? What dose baseball have to do with running the country?

There are tons more examples of congress over stepping their given authority, and one of the main reasons for it is they feel they have the power to do it.

With new people coming in and knowing they only have a few years to make a difference they will focus on things that are important. Right now politicians are more concerned with staying in power and creating wealth for their friends.

I don't know. Seems like term limits would be a good idea?

I voted yes. Didn't really have much for comments. 2 terms and then I'd support never being able to run for office again. You are done.
