:red|:((:sad:it is time to change the rating of the freeways. i vote that they be rated a 5.0+ breakage likely. that is right first the 202 bit me now the 17 put me down. just past the anthem exit i heard what i thought was a stone or two hit underneath but then a vibration started also and we pulled over. front drive shaft very loose at the transfer case side u-joint maybe?? after removing drive shaft we found the answer was no and this is what was broken cracked whatever--

Russ - you should wheel with Chris in some of the extreme parking lots he used to frequent. I saw a gas pump take out his brake lines while the vehicle wasn't even moving. To his defense, it was a 4.5 parking lot.

lol seriously, I"m thinking about going to the top of 4peaks next sunday to play in the snow.. 87 is supposed to be open by then and coming home today it looks like there is A LOT of snow up there.

getting a new drive shaft $211 another company here wanted to rebuild it for 265 should be here thursday or friday to install.

Russ, did you check AMC salvage? you could probably get just the joint, but I would expect the driveshaft to be way cheaper than $211.

we did some calling around and found the cheapest so far is direct from chrysler. the joint is gone and also did damage to the shaft. no i did not try salvage. wanted to go new anyways and i also get it taken out of my pay check in increments because i go through our shop and mech here.
i think i started the damage when i went out to table mesa a month or so back and was really playing in the mud. i had a squeek back there but everything was tight. thought maybe it was a u going until sunday. i have it on order and should be here by friday just in time for the weekend.

Little FYI
after playin in the mud its always a good idea to blast those joints with a high pressure just to make sure nothing works its way in there.
