Well a rear locker would be sweet.. not gonna put one in the front again unless it's an air locker.

Why? Too many things can go wrong with air lockers.

I agree with FatBob, too many problems with air lines and whatnot. I barely notice my front aussie when in 2 wheel drive.

and for re-gearing, you should be good to go 4.56 or 4.88 and run up to 35's with those axles.

I had a lockright in the front, and hated it.. if you have good luck with an aussie then I could try that. How much do you think re-gearing would cost?

It's more than that. Figure at least $1000 for both axles.

Not much love for air lockers round here. I have had zero issues with mine after two years or so. There is alot to be siad for proper line routing.
As far as OX is concerned. All i ever hear about them is people complaining about getting them engaged at critical moments.

Absolute did my D30, 4.56 & lock rite works great! I think a front locker is more of a must than the rear (but thats my $.02)
Im running 35" tires and have broke an axle... Yes I do wheel it, but I dont have the chajonies to keep up Alan, Bob, Geoff, YellowSub...
Gearing, 4.56 with 33" tires is a hoot! talk about being able to roast tires & get up to speed quick!
I do hope to get some where between Alan & Geoff's rig but all XJ are unique to the owners, there ideas & budget... Im a cheap SOG so Ill do what I can myself & then spend the $$ later.
But I do enjoy being able to jump in and drive up to Flag or Sedona or across town :)g)

You like your lockright? I agree that a front locker is more useful of the two.. I had a lock right in my D30 and second trip out I sheared all 4 pins in half. I wouldn't go bigger then 33's unless I was to lift it more, so hopefully I won't have to big of a problem with axle breaking.

4k gets you a capable buggy

Yep, call Joe. I think you're talking about $1k for gears and install. maybe a little more (it's been a while). I think I ordered the aussies and asked him to put them in since he was doing the labor anyway.

Alright, as soon as I get the money in I'll call him and see what he can put together for me.
