Florence Junction 5/12/2010 ~ Elvis

OK. I'll get this thread started. We had a GREAT day of wheelin. Elvis, Ecstasy (X), and Axle Alley (AA). Since there was so much action on each trail, I'm writing each one up individually so folks can add pictures and we can keep the trails straight!

We met at 7 AM off Price Rd. Five vehicles, ready for adventure: Cecil, Showboat, themud (Daniel), Alanzona, and tlorang (Todd and Dez).

One of the most fun parts of Elvis was running the long wash like Baja racers to get to the start of the trail. Cecil set a blistering pace and we all had a blast trying to keep up with the cloud of dust.

Once we got to the beginning, it was a blast because there were lines for everyone.

Here's Cecil taking the middle and toughest entry line:

Once up that, there's a cool little notch to the right which we played on and then rocks galore. The gatekeeper for Elvis is really entertaining.

next it was themud's turn...

Todd and themud playing nicely together... LOL

Todd had an oustanding 2 wheel stand that he recovered (Dez got the pic!).

Here he is finishing the obstacle, but we suspect this is where the gas tank cracked... because all fuel broke lose a couple minutes after this:

themud (Daniel) jumped right in with quick thining a capture as much gas as possible...

We pushed him off the rocks, poured in a much gas as we could save, and had Todd drive it out until he ran out of gas again. Cecil pulled him the rest of the way out.

In the mean time, we needed to line up a truck and trailer, as none of us had one. Daniel Avis was the only person on this side of the valley who had one, and we tracked down his number.

Now, not everyone takes kindly to a phone call at 9:30 AM asking if you can come pick up a complete stranger, but Avis demonstrated the love and service of Christ and hopped on the road to help a fellow jeeper.

We loaded the YJ on the trailer:

And here's a picture of the STUD who hauled him back home. Again, thank you, Avis. You ARE the man and everyone really appreciates your williness to help. Thank you.

After that, it was nealy 11:30 AM and we had only done the gatekeeper on Elvis, so themud, Cecil, showboat and I HAULED BUTT down the wash like Baja racers again, to try and get some wheelin' in!

me on the gatekeeper...

Every wonder why we call him "Rockslapper" in some posts?

Fun waterfall near the end of Elvis. Not as intimidating as AA, but fun none the less

My turn.

XJ's safely through...

all in all, I loved Elvis. I thought it was a great trail. Took about 45 minutes to an hour to run with optional obstacles once we got going. I'd love to do it again and take others through it. Great time, everyone.

Thank you!
