So Amex decided personal web mail was a HUGE security risk. Now its banned

You have requested access to a website in the Personal Webmail category.

Effective Friday, August 27, American Express will discontinue access to personal webmail sites for employees and contractors using company computers and network connections.

Personal webmail sites (such as Hotmail, Gmail and AOL) represent a significant information security risk for American Express. Receiving and opening attachments to personal webmail messages may introduce malware (worms, viruses, etc.) into our company network and systems. Links embedded in personal webmail can lead to sites that may expose the company to unintended security, privacy, legal or financial consequences. Creating and sending attachments to personal webmail may allow sensitive company information to be disclosed inadvertently.

Until personal webmail sites can be adequately monitored and managed to avoid damage to company systems and the loss of sensitive business information, American Express will continue to restrict access to them. When tools and processes for adequately monitoring and managing personal webmail are in place, then access may be restored.

In the meantime, you may use your company e-mail account on the rare occasions when you need to send or receive an urgent message from someone outside American Express.

Thank you for your support of our information security initiatives.

The ones that fail to find a way around it get let go.
