We hiked up to the old Michelbach Ranch cabins and explored around before eating lunch. The sky was pretty overcast so photos were tough except for flowers etc. We then drove some more and hiked to Bismark Lake. On the way back from that side trip, the sky opened up but we had our ponchos ready. The rain sounded great in the woods and made the smells all the better.
It let up after we got back to the X and we drove over to hike and into the crater that's home to Walker Lake. We then filled up the rest of the day with various muddy side roads and items on the map, spotting elk and deer along the way.
Cracker Barrel marked the end of our trip where a random stranger lady approached our table and asked: "Oh my, were you one of the ones caught in the flood yesterday? I couldn't help but notice how muddy your Jeep was when you came in."
On the way back we got to call 911 on a lightning fire Dana spotted in a tree off the interstate.
Great trip with the sis away from all the woes and heat of Phoenix.

Bismark Lake

It was raining pretty hard here

Walker Crater Lake. Much bigger than I thought
