Judgement Day - Anaconda 7-31-10

Oh man, the stories we are going to be able to tell.

Two HG members home safe (Mike and me). Mutliple others still on the trail running 'Conda. Can't wait for the pics of JD. LOL

Pictures or it didn't happen :)

Picture a Cherokee suspended in the air with a bee hive and a rattlesnake underneath it and 5 guys in a death grip with a tow strap keeping the Jeep from going over completely backwards into the whole mess.

And a drive home with a steering box ratchet strapped and winched up into a close enough position to make right turns.

OK. 1st of all, I was only able to run JD due to time contraints. 2nd, I don't have any pics of my breakage since I was a bit preoccupied, but it was odd. I was going over a boulder and "bing" "bing" "bing". The bolts shoot out to the left of my rig. I sheered all three grade 8 bolts holding my steering box in place and cracked the frame at the box. Mike and his every faithful camera have it fairly well documented, but the solution was one fairly decent regular bolt, a 1/4 inch socket extension, ratchet straps, and my winch holding the steering box in place. The drive home had a touch of death wobble, but fortunately, there was no actual "death".

Here are shots from the 1st waterfall on JD:

The next obstacle was actually nature.

At the base of the obstacle Geoff wanted to climb was a HUGE bee hive with angry bees...

We dealt with that, dodged the rattlesnake, and Geoff got ready for his big run (which was AWESOME since no one died).

I present "Geoff's big fun" with limited commercial interruption. I think the pics tell the story:

After we were able to throw a winch on it, we all got out of the way and Ryan and Cecil pulled him back down to earth, he crawled on up it, and everything was right with the world.

Mike and I prayed and had God's hand upon us for the drive home without incident and my day was done. Can't wait to see 'Conda and CD2 pics.

Thanks for a great day, guys. It was a pleasure and thanks for coming along, Mike. Always good to get to spend time with you buddy.

Great shot of the professor holding court! Thank you again, Geoff, for stepping up and taking over. I would have killed us. LOL.
