Table Mesa Clean up
#1
I just found this on another site. Thought I would help spread the word. If you can attend and help out, that would be great.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just got word from Chris Gammage at the BLM that they will be having a cleanup on November 6, 2010. I realize that this is six months out, but I wanted to get the word out as soon as I could (in hopes for more volunteers). I'll post up more information, as I get it.
This will be a great opportunity to meet a bunch of like-minded 4x4 enthusiasts, to see some really well-built rigs, and to help keep our trails Clean and OPEN. I hope to see you there!
Thanks for posting this up TRLNGRL. I am the one who posted this on the ExPo site. As you guys and girls know, Table Mesa really needs a good cleaning. I, too, was out there in May for the AZVJC Cleanup, and we did well. But, we could have used more volunteers. That I why I am hyping this cleanup on every 4x4 site that I know of.
Here is an update: The BLM has secured a 40yd rolloff dumpster from the County. I am talking to the City of Phoenix to see if they can donate one as well. Two years ago, they brought an old-school trash truck and a small loader, so hopefully they'll be able to get involved this year, as well. A local company has volunteered to donate bottled water, and several members of AZXC will donate a bunch of boxes of the heavy-duty contactors bags. In past cleanups, the BLM has provided the food, so I assume they will again this year. To be sure, I will verify with Chris @ the BLM. Typically, they buy a bunch of pizzas.
As I get more information, I will pass it along. In the meantime, if you are a member of any dirtbike, ATV, UTV, or sand rail clubs, please post about the cleanup on their sites. The more people we can get out there, the more impact we can make out there. Thanks Everyone! I look forward to seeing you all out there in November
I understand your frustration Brotobeast, the renegade shooters give the entire desert enthusiast community a black eye. Those uniformed shooters and the illegal dumpers are the two biggest problems out at Table Mesa.
The BLM recognizes there needs to be more education and more law enforcement officer (LEO) presence out at Table Mesa. To this end, they have requested more LEOs for next year's budget, and their volunteer group - the OHV Ambassadors will be doing more meet and greet events at TM. In fact, their first meet and greet of the season is on October 9th. They will be relaying the Tread LIghtly! message of "Respected Access is Open Access". This means no illegal dumping, no leaving behind shooting debris, and no going off the trails. They will also inform the public that there will be a cleanup on Nov 6th. Hopefully, these meet and greets will begin to educate the public in the proper ways to recreate in the desert. And who knows, we may get a few more volunteers for the cleanup, as well.
I have contacted 3 local shooting/hunting clubs (ArizonaShooting.com, ArizonaHuntingToday.com, and GunAndGame.com) in the hope that they will be able to join us on Nov 6th. This week, I will also make contact with the local NRA reps, to see how we can engage them in the cleanup. I'll keep this forum up-to-date, as I get additional information.
Here is the flyer that I created for the Table Mesa Cleanup:
I would have also attached a pdf version of the flyer, but this forum limits the size to 19.5KB (which is really small, IMHO).
Cool! I'm coming from the NW valley. If you want to roll in together we can meet at 99th and happy valley, or I-17 and Carefree Hwy. Bill will meet up with us too.
