Cottonwood weekend w/ the HCR 10-9-10
#21
OK, my pics/updates are going to come in goups. First up is SC.

LOVED IT. Andy led with Sy spotting everyone through as needed. Everyone else pretty much wheeled and made smart ass remarks as needed.

GREAT group of guys to run and camp with. We had a mix of mostly HCR (who's party we crashed, but at their invitation), three of us HG guys, and a Flagstaffer. the rigs were built to high heaven and the gentlemen had the skillz to pay the billz when it came to knowing their junk.

The trail was tougher, more grown up version of several TM favorites with bigger waterfalls, tighter squeezes, and more agressive boulders.

Camping was about a mile or so away from the trial head where we all got organized.

Some of the "getting to the hard stuff" would have been obstacles on any other trail. LOL

I loved the way you had to pick a line and weave in between boulders on the way to the main obstacles. It made our built rigs look like toy trucks sometimes.

Now, from personal experience, I've found that it's always great to have a Bob around. I used my Bob significantly this weekend. If you don't have a Bob, I highly recommended investing in one. They are amazing.

More rock gardens while cruising through the canyon... wondering when this is going to get more difficult...

Plenty of native animal life around to keep an eye on the invaders... more on that in a later thread about the locals and their odd customs and habits.

TC and Bob making it look easy...

Jonathan walking it through with the big boys.

Nice view of some of the chutes we were running.

Sometimes they brough us all closer together in a manly kind of way.

and then... WHAM. Oh hey, let's just walk right this little ditty.

Andy (AZScooby), um, you first brother.

Well, anthing Andy can do, Sy has to do faster! Killer walk up, Sy. You and Andy set the bar high for the line on this one.

Then we got to a little bit of a dipsy do with a massive rock about to pound you head if you screwed it up. I don't know if T.C was crying because he was scared of the obstacle or scared of what his wife would do to him if he messed up his pretty little soft top. LOL

Cliff (I think) gettin' it done.

Just when you think SC is done, it sneaks up on you with one last little waterfall that goes under a tree, through a mud hole, and up a sheer rock wall. Nasty and nice all at the same time.

AZScooby walkin' up it:

Sy getting his mojo on:

T.C made it look easy.

...and then there's Bob. Remember my love of my Bob earlier. Gone now. What wasn't dug out from T.C. run definately got slicked up, tore up, and dug out after mean, mean red machine. Note the slickery slope T.C. had already created at the base of the obstacle.

Finally they let the mini-van take a turn...

I was late for the PTA meeting, so was concentrating on Sy's direction. That's hard to do when you are sitting on two phone books to see over the dash.

Once we all survived, there was one last hill climb. This shot doesn't even come close to sharing the vibe of how tippy this one. It never quit.

Great run. Loved the trail and the company. Coming up in the next installment: the River, fishing and camping, then on to BC and a weekend wrap up.

I missed a whole group of good ones upon review, so these are still SC, just out of order:

Sy, "do it. do it now."

Jonathan, "yes sir."

Lovin' this one, Avis. If I can't catch any fish, I'll run 'em the hell over. 8)

Matt does not recommend the dive option.

I dont think that is even close to how it went down........

Everyone did a great job of driving..... amazes me how Bob drives that Jeep on its side almost......

Just yanking your chain Sy. I tend to make up fake conversations in my mind to entertain myself. Sometimes I share. LOL.
#34
I know you are Alan..... Not everyone here knows what a smart axle I am so.....

BTW Alan, might you have pic of my remote contol Toyota in the vertical position like you have of TC's? Thats a great shot.

I didn't see any cameras out when you ran the obstacles.

On BC, you and Andy would be up the obstacle before we would get stopped and walk up there, so I don't have the one you're asking about. I started running after I noticed you guys weren't waiting, so I was able to get more pics later in the day. Looks like you are going to have to see what the photo master was able to get. I bet you its worth waiting for, though.

Guess I could post up some teasers from Smasher I've been working on. You guys made it all. Thanks for letting me watch :)
