Avis wrote:So happy for you Alan! Cannot wait to see it in action. You and Bob can play follow the leader a little easier now :) Looks like you could add a windshield frame pretty easily? I personally would hate not having one.

Besides its not legal on the streets without one.....

Been that way for a long time

So, I'll ask it. What color will you be sporting this weekend?

Im not required to have one on the Jeep... Neither are you.
28-957.01.
#48
What year is the new jeep?
#49
New Jeep is 97.

Mike - if FedEx doesn't bring me a check today, the color won't matter as I won't have the rig. We've signed all paperwork, been approved, sign the sales agreement and title, but until I can place money in his hand, I don't get keys, so I'm just hanging out today, jumping at every vehicle sound, hoping it's a FedEx truck. 8)

When I *do* have money and Jeep in posession, it will be matte black. The seats will be going black with a dark grey inset, instead of the red.

Ah I meant will you be wearing a sensible white family style turtle neck on Sunday or a hardcore heavy metal red top with your hair blown back.

How do you figure that?
28-957.01. Windshields required
A. The following vehicles shall be equipped with an adequate windshield:
1. A passenger vehicle, except a motorcycle, an all-terrain vehicle and a golf cart manufactured or modified before June 17, 1998.
2. A motor truck or truck tractor, except fire trucks, fire engines or other fire apparatus, whether publicly or privately owned.
B. This section does not apply to an implement of husbandry or to an antique, classic or horseless carriage automobile if it was not originally equipped with a windshield.

For that matter legally I should replace my wiper blades
28-957. Windshield wipers required; golf cart exception
A. The windshield on a motor vehicle shall be equipped with a device for cleaning rain, snow or other moisture from the windshield. The device shall be constructed in a manner to be controlled or operated by the driver of the vehicle.
B. A windshield wiper on a motor vehicle shall be maintained in good working order.
C. This section does not apply to a golf cart.

Removable plexi zip tied to the roll bar count? LOL

Well all it says is "adequate", it never defines what it should be made of or how it is to be secured. The windshield on motorcycles is simply plexi screwed in place (at least thats what I imagine it is) so you should be good to go.

hmmm... two part, storable, yet removable windshield project that clips onto the roll cage in the front... I can see it now! LOL

hahah Not a bad idea. Maybe make it 2 piece (divided down the middle) to make it easier to store in the jeep. That way you can legally drive to close trails and still enjoy the freedom of no windshield once you arrive and wheel.
