Looking to get a CB before the Colorado trip, what brand/kind is the best?

I'm really happy with my Cobra "all in one" type CB (where the handpiece is the unit too). I"ll have to go look up the model, but it's the same as the CB in the install in the write up tech section. Whatt I like about it is that when I unplug it and take it inside, there is less to steal.

I have a sick Uniden that i got at Apolo communications. one of the best cb's i have ever owned. It was peaked and tuned brand new in the box for 79.99

I have had cobra and uniden. I liked them each. I had my mic go out on the uniden and a cobra that shorter out. I have had the all in one and liked it. However it was big.

I like my massive black chrome cobra paired with an external speaker. There are some cool cobra models with all the gizmos and a thing called "nightwatch" which illuminates all the dials, but those are pricey. For a trail CB though, I think the simpler the better. Less chance of things breaking.

X2 on the Cobra all in one. I thnk it is the Cobra 75, NEEDS an external Speaker. I have a small marine speaker.

I have a Uniden PC68LTW with Wilson 5000. Great setup.

The Cobra 75 is a decent radio also. I agree that in my experience, the people that say they hate it were not using an external speaker. Add a $10-20 speaker to it and you'll do much better.

The 510XL doesn't have the RF gain or PA like the 520xl. Gains good when you're too close to other CB'd vehicles. Without the PA you cannot shout things like "Step lively, do not make me abuse my power."

lol, I was actually planning on upgrading it for another 15 bucks for that reason exactly! haha
