scheduling a meeting with my boss for voluntary separation...

Should I give him a heads up in an email about the meeting topic? I dont want him to be blind sided but I dont want him to resent me either lol
I was thinking about proposing a separation package of 2 months paid salary in exchange for me coming in for 4 weeks to train new team members
Is 30 days notice enough?
what do you think?

30 days is more than enough on that point. does he have any clue at all that you have been shopping around? if not then giving him a heads up would be a good thing. it will also give him a chance to give you an offer to stay on board with them if you want to. i believe leaving a company on good terms is always best in the long run.

With as much notice as you are giving them, I wouldn't give the manager a heads up before meeting. Just request meeting only.

Did you find another job already? It's a tough time to jump ship if you don't have dry land to fall onto.

Yeah the market is tough and conventional wisdom says a bad job is better than no job. Im taking my CCENT exam at the end of the month then my CeH in June, hopefully those will give me an edge on other candidates for the security jobs. I should be okay for about 18 months before I have to start selling kidneys to survive
