We agree that the borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines, with mutually agreed swaps...
Before 1967 Jerusalem was held by Jordan and they lost it in the 6 day war
Here is the map of the borders before the war
And after the war
Its interesting that the return of Jerusalem to Israel was written in the Bible thousands of years earlier (Zechariah 8:7-8)
In Zechariah 8:7-8, the prophet said God would bring the Jews back from the east and the west to their homeland (Israel) and that they would be able to live in the city of Jerusalem again. This prophecy has been fulfilled more than once. About 2600 years ago, Babylon destroyed Jerusalem and took many Jews as captives to Babylon. But many Jews later returned from Babylon. The Jews rebuilt Jerusalem but the city was destroyed about 1900 years ago by the Romans. The Romans killed more than 1 million Jews and forced many more into exile. The Jews did not have control of Jerusalem again until 1967 when the Jews recaptured the city during the Six Day War.
Now Obama wants to give that land back to the Palestinians. I did a little looking and I think these events are mentioned in the Bible too. Check out
Zechariah 12:2-4 (New International Version)
2 โI am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem. 3 On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves. 4 On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,โ declares the LORD. โI will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations.
Zechariah 14:1-2 (New International Version)
1 A day of the LORD is coming, Jerusalem, when your possessions will be plundered and divided up within your very walls. 2 I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city.
