Car 4511 Build Thread

Very cool, that'll be an awesome stance.

This thread makes me giddy.

I agree it looks really long without the cage. Cant wait to see some progress
#24
I swung by again today (no decent pics) and the old fuel cell is out, the front half of the cage is in, we talked about how to set up the fuel system, and the suspension mock ups are underway.

I am going over Friday to pick up the old cage and fuel cell so I should have some cage pics then!

Work has progressed on the cage. It's about 35% in, but you can start to see the lines. I love how they cut out into the dash and made that bar low and lean... us short guys need all the visibility we can get!

oo

Also picked up the old sport cage, the old fuel cell, and got to hang out and visit with Dan Felix at the shop. Cool dude.

Lots to do the next few weeks. Once Matt wraps up the cage, it's roof and door skin time, then on to the suspension and stretch.

To quote a Jeep cliche'... Life is Good.

speaking of short guys

are the bolting the seats to the cage? you really should have them measure you in the seat so they can adjust it to give you a better viewing angle
#27
Actually, yes. Yes we are. You do have to mount the seats to the cage with seat tie ins, but a "phone book element" (you are welcome Russ) is being integrated into the design so I can see over the hood. LOL.

YEA . Progress has been made.
#29
I'm with Geoff, progress has gone quick now that it's at letz roll! Props to Andrew and the crew!

More awesome work by Andrew, Matt, and the LetzRoll Offroad team.

More work on the front part of the cage... B Pillar supports / side bars and skins / roof / harness bar and seating will be going on this week and early next week. The back half of the cage will go in after the fuel cell work is complete. I had my "fitting" today. LOL We're calling it the "phonebook mod" but the seat will be high enough for me to see over the dash.

These will give you an idea of the height of the cage relative to the windshield frame (yes the glass is coming out of the frame).

Dang that looks schweeeet! Although I think your windsheild has a couple cracks in it!
#34
Looks good. Seats working out ok? Ive figured out how to mount yours for three bucks and ten min of time. Seen a tip on Pirate? any luck with a new cover?
#35
Thanks Geoff. They are going to mount your seat to the floor so I can be taller. LOL. $169 for a cover from Mastercraft. Jen's Mom sews really good. So I am going to have her make a new insert for it when she's in for Christmas.
#36
Holy cow. So thought it would be cheaper. Ill get one after christmas.
#37
Needs more triangulation.
#38

I dropped by the shop to take some additional pictures of my rims for an interested party on Pirate and snapped a couple of update shots.

Matt is working on the mounts for the seats today.
