Instagram Smart Phone Camera Filters
#1
I just discovered Instagram and I love it. Anyone else on?

I had mentioned "Instagram" in another post. It's basically "twitter" for photos... only photos from your cell phone, then you use filters, etc... to make it different and then you post it. I'm just learning it, but I like it. It's fun and you can subscribe to other users and see their photos.

Here are a couple I've done in learning ove the last few weeks...

Here is some Alley Art from my Seattle trip:

Here are a couple of the dog to test filters...

I started a series with some friends from church where we are taking self portaits any time we find a red wall and posting them in a "Red Wall Collection" Facebook group. odd, but highly entertaining to us. Here are some of my submission...

The last couple of days I've been messing around with other stuff to try out different filters and mess with the cell phone camera. Here are some of them in no particular order...

my nod to U2 on the trip home from Vegas last week...

Appropriate credit to Michael for the source pics... I was testing how it worked on saved photos to my phone and not cell phone pics...

other stuff

So, 5 stars in my book. Fun. Artsey. Free. What's not to like. If you have an Apple product, download Instagram, join the community, and let me know what you think. I like it.

More Instagram stuff...

Here are two from my office parking lot:

"Waterfall Jesus" is getting some good play...

Your stuff is coming out awesome Alan

Instagram is supposed to be coming out in a few weeks for the Android platform. I tried Flickr's new pic and filter tool but I think it forces you to upload the filtered pic to your flickr page and I really didn't want my fun shots cluttering up my other ones. It's a shame they didn't jump on it sooner since they already have a strong community for the subject. They only offer a small amount of filters.

I did find Picplz for Android which was created by the same person as Instagram. It seems good and I guess has some pros that Inst doesn't offer.

There aren't as many cool border features or filters that I've found so far.

My Picplz examples

I like the old picture feel on some photos. I usually process them when I want to myself but it can take a long time
Examples:

I'll play around with the app a bit more.

Many pics seem best if they are closer up macros or an isolated subject.
It also seems most filter overlay, heavy processing pics look better in smaller format.

Playing with it around work

I do wish there was a multiple borders screen to pick from after the processing step is done

These

Any more to add? Looks like I'm stuck with Picplz still.
I use it mostly for Facespace "related pic" posts and or to make boring things semi-interesting

Nice, Mike.

I've been a little covered up at work, but have taken a few more shots lately...

#16
Cool. I try to be good and not use anything but camera phone shots.
#17
Top two are, bottom two aren't... just testing and trying stuff. The true spirit is camera phone only, though.

Picplz you say? I have been wanting Instagram on android for a while now after my buddy took a cool (albeit driveway) shot of my Jeep with his Iphone. I better go try Picplz now!

EDIT:
I think I got it to work. We were at my buddy's house shortly after he got his bike and my son found the old catalytic converter that we had cut out of my Jeep laying on the garage floor. When we weren't looking he picked it up and slid it over the foot peg opposite of the exhaust for a sweet dual exhaust look. HAHA! He is "workin on it" with that wrench on one of the vent tubes in the pic. That's my boy!

Edit numero dos:
Saw this guy drivin down Bell road at about 39th Ave not too long ago. Original 1929 plates, tools on the side, and 2 lanterns hanging off the back. One of the neatest things I have seen on the road.

I'll try to refrain from posting any more... today.
