Reynold's Creek Ruins/Camping 11-12-11
#1
Chris, Offroadaz, wanted to go see the Sierra Anchas. He'd never been but had heard the tales. Scheduling unfortunately put us after peak fall color so I figured I'd still take him camping and looking for ruins and bears.

We headed out early Saturday morning and stopped in Globe for food. As we crossed the creek for the last time, we found a couple trucks blocking the road to block their camp at the trailhead. They came down to tell me I couldn't go any farther anyway since the trail ends. "Thanks, I've been here before," and I decided not to mention the turnaround spot or the the old road that does continue a bit. They then asked me if wouldn't park in the road, because you know it would block them and all. Fine. Then he asked where his troop and him actually were because they had took a wrong turn and just ended up here.

Well anyway... we began our hike. Some of it in the snow. Found smaller critter and elk track but no bear.

At a certain point we ventured off trail in search of ruin V:1:162. I had an idea of the area it would be and some pictures printed of previous expeditions so it really was just a big scavenger hunt through the woods and along cliff edges.

We finally made using all the puzzle pieces we had and then goofed around carefully in and around the ruins.

On the way back I fell hand first into what felt like a dishwasher full of upturned knives. The plant somehow slowly slid, as my weight tried to resist, along the edges of my fingers. I just remember being able to cuss a lot before I was all the way down and sliced up. Flappy skin deep. Meh, the cold stopped the blood.

We made it back as the sun was going down so we backtracked the road down to a great camp spot. About that time I started feeling weird. Maybe I should use the restroom. And from there on, that's about all I did.

I think I've tracked it down to McDonald's breakfast biscuit, inadvertently eating poop snow, or the fly that flew in my mouth in the back of the cave was actually an old cursed Indian spirit. Bu those are pretty much the standard 3 choice cause of all life's troubles: Micky D's, poop snow, or Indian curse. Try applying it to your own life and I'm sure you'll agree.

Well that fun lasted till let's say Monday night sometime. Oh and Saturday night it rained while being below freezing. Bonus for outside the tent funnin :)

Decided to not do much Sunday and head out early. Took him up to see Workman Falls and watched some rappelers do their thing. Played in the snow some too.

Easy to spot critter tracks

So our clues with other people's area pics went as such

At this point I was just trying to see how far I could push Chris with this game

There is so much win in that post.

1. Poop Snow. That's my vote.
2. What a great game. We should now include it in every adventure with Chris.
3. Did I mention Poop snow?
4. Great pics, Mike. The B/W is great and Whack a Mole made me laugh.
5. When your album goes platinum, you are so done with us, aren't you.
6. Snow!
7. No smiling in the waterfall pic, Chris. Sheesh.
8. uh, i forgot what 8 was for...

Thanks Alan lol.

Nice pics Chris. Having to pass on N's cheese dogs may have been the worst part. Was good to get up there and to play explorers.
