need some money for tires/rims. Sell the 308 and ammo?
#1
So the JK really needs new tires and rims. I want to goto 33's but its going to be close to 2k for this

I was thinking I could sell my 308 with ammo, bi-pod and scope for around $1,300. Leaves me a gap of $700 to make up elsewhere

Ill have the 223 build done soon (james I need to get with you about your upper) so I wont be out a rifle for hunting and stuff

what do you think? Sell it? Price it higher/lower?

The rifle is $897 at Wal-Mart. The scope is $100 everywhere. 308 win ammo is now readily available and, depending on MFG, is between $13-$18 per 20rnd box of plinking stuff. Not knowing what bipod you have, I would guess that the value is around $40-50. You also have some backup sights, right? Scope mount, too.

The bigger question is, "is there a demand for this rifle"? There was 6 months ago. Crazy demand 12 months ago, but now probably not as much. On Gunbroker.com, only 2 used ones have sold since Nov 2013. $800 for no accessories. $850 with scope and mounts. Since Nov 2013, about 17 new one sold, for an average price of $845.

Your asking price of $1,300 may be on the high side. You'll just have to do the math on it.

Your best bet is to post it on phx.backpage.com and sell it locally for $850 and do a separate add for the ammo. Keep the bipod, and backup sights and use it yourself. Heck, you may even keep the scope and save it for your next project. You will not get much added value on the accessories, anyways.

Good luck, my friend. Keep this in mind. You "want" new offroad tires and offset rims for $2,000. However, don't you really just "need" new on/offroad tires for around $800? I'm just saying...

Based on your 24 month driving history, you can probably get away with onroad tires like the Yokohama Geolanders for $160 each. They have a 9.2/10 rating! Ha ha ha! :)

Hm maybe I should keep the bipod and sites and just sell the rifle

Heavy barrel stainless version on backpage is at 1,199 right now. I paid $978 from buds in 2011

dpms has it listed at $1,189 http://www.dpmsinc.com/LR-308T_p_54.html

No one buys ar MSRP. Plus yours is used. Worth a shot, though.
