The dodge, The chevy, The bank account

Its my own little good bad ugly...

So I have been working on the Dodge to make it more reliable as a daily driver. Yeah it has 200k on it but it doesn't have a payment. As I was working on it I made some upgrades along the way. Its about where I want it to be for being a weekend wheeler, hunting, camping yard work truck.

As of the return trip home from the AZ/NV state line (aka Matts house) the Dodge let me know it was done till I was willing to put in more work. It no longer stays running at an idle. It will be parked till I can get some $ around and take it into a shop to see whats needed.

The Chevy... What can I say about it... It was free and needed some work. 1999 GMC 1500 with a 4.8 V8 2wd. I ordered up a fuel pump in the hopes that it would be the cure all and it would run. After removing the bed of the truck and some yelling, it started up and ran great.
Its also a 200K truck with broken AC, broken seat, needing a tire, needing a deep cleaning.
There are other little things like window tint and speakers that work. Nothing that will kill me but it would be nice to have. I will be driving this around town and may even use it for longer road trips. It does ride nice.

The bank account aka the ugly... Until I am able to save a little money or my weekend dancing takes off, I'm just going to be grateful that I have something that runs and drives... even if its a chevy :)

Well that is a good nugget on the Chevy. Glad my pessimism on that "gift" didn't pan out.
Good job on the isolating and fixing.

have you tried advertising beard rides on backpage.com yet? Im sure you could get $200 a go

Hey, nothing wrong with driving a Chevy :)

What size tire on the Chevy? I might have an extra that needs a home. Glad it was just the fuel pump! Good timing for that :)

And I can help with window tint and speakers... what's up with the AC?

1980 Chevrolet K30 short bed crew cab 4X4 3+3. My neighbor is selling it. See the For Sale section for the thread.

Truth! Nothing wrong with a Chevy. It runs better than the Dodge and has 7k more miles on it. :) Not sure on the tire size. Will look when I go to lunch. I know they are small.

AC is hot. Lots of hot air. It doesn't shut off when you have it on cool and the nob on off. I have to run with the heat on.

Thanks! Its not anything I am going to fix for a few weeks. I plan on getting out of the heat and being on a lake fishing this weekend :)

Sorry the trip from my house broke your truck. I guess you weren't supposed to leave.

Does it run fine at anything other than idle? That sounds like the tps, which can be cleaned.

Glad you got the Chevy running. Try putting a block of ice in front of the vents, that should be just as good as a swamp cooler. :))

We can get it to not blow air at all if you want, super easy. No air has to be better then hot air..

Also, you can pick up a switch panel from a junkyard for cheap. Easy to replace as well.

This... The truck knew what it wanted and what I needed.
