Me: No I didnt. Is it a one off or are you seeing a few like this?
Tech: Almost all of mine have been like this.
Me: How long has it been like this?
Tech: As long as I can remember.
Me: Have you been requesting the $ back on the sup claim?
Tech: No. Isnt this why we are doing that new project? You know so we can get the money back...
Me: .... Yeah... for ones that techs messed up and didnt request the funds back on the sup claim.
Tech: Oh... so start claiming that?
Me: YES!!!!!

I have to chose a test patient on my computer to set up some programs I use during the day. One of the test patients is Chocolate Bob. I chose that one just I can chuckle everyday. If they had Gnome Alan I would alternate between the two.

Fat Amy: (to the manager on the other team) He is trying to tell his team they need to do this and to do it this way!
Me: Im not "trying"... I am telling.
Fat Amy: Why are you telling them wrong?
Me: (email to my team and the other team) Here are the directions from the govt company that we are working for and you will notice that what I told you to do and how to do it is correct. Im sorry that people on other teams are wrong.
Fat Amy: Was that directed at me?
Me: Noooooo.... Notice that it went out to all the people not just you.

"that email you sent earlier that said it was optional... Would you like me to go? I know Jerri said she wanted her team members to go"


Oh did you start working for Jerri? No? Do you still report up through me? Yes? Then follow what I said to MY team in MY email...

sometimes i miss the corporate environment - free coffee, occasional donuts and just talking to co workers in person instead of online chat

My manager has a report he works off of. It pulls the info from the day before. The report I work off of is live and gives me up to date info. My manager sent an email asking about why my numbers didn't match the numbers he had. I explained it and the other manager on my team jumps in with "I'll be happy to look at it and see why the numbers don't match. It will take me a while to look at 1500 files but I should be able to see what the issue is."

Me: (SMH)...Ummmm I just explained the issue. But, feel free to look at them and see why I show more files done than his reports...

So were working a case for a client - original scope was 5 hard drives and 20 hours of billable work. No problem - easy enough

A couple of days go by and 8 more drives show up. Ok, we can expand scope and get more hours. Set up a call with customer and explain situation and say do not ship any more items to us until we have it added to scope and hours billed.

3 more days go by, another box full of firewalls and networking gear. Okay, what did we just say? Dont ship any more items to us. She says oh yeah - sorry.

4 more days go by and 3 more Fedex boxes full of 30 more drives show up. Cmon lady. Our original contract was for 5 drives and 20 hours. Now were sitting on 30 drives plus networking devices and looking at about 120 hours of billable work.

So ive got to inventory all this stuff, find room in the storage locker and hold onto 7 boxes in case we have to ship it back

Ha. Got to love the "I know he said not to send anything but Im sure these 10000x boxes will be fine for me to send"

Conversation last week:
Me- Please request a BPR and get the check sent out so we don't get a finding.
Tech- Ok

Conversation this week:
Tech- We have a finding since we didn't get the checks out.
Me- Why didn't we get the checks out?
Tech- Well they lost them last time we requested them so I didn't know if that was what we wanted to do again.
Me- So you didn't do anything?
Tech- You said you were trying to see if we could get tracking on them.
Me- But I told you to do the BPR and send the check...
Tech- Yeah but they lose them and they could lose these again.

Some how this is my fault....

Email I got...

"Hey Robert,

Just making sure… you will be responding to ***** on this one, right?"

Me to them:

"I wasn’t planning on it. I figured you would be since this is your request for the $123K and my department has nothing to do with the file, the atty or your request"
