#1
Decided to build an "expedition" trailer. All said and done, it will have solar, running water, slide out kitchen area, tent, awning, etc..

That's great, Daniel! Exactly how we should all do it: build our own! Can't wait to see this finished. #loveit

Looking good!

Got the upper rack built today and the cable run... I'll have a strut on each corner to push the rack up high enough for the awning to clear my head, and a small hand winch to raise lower it. Untitled by Daniel Avis, on Flickr

How much are you guessing on finished weight?

Friend of mine who owns Stout Tent is having two prototype roof top tents made, one for him and one for me.... I"m getting it at an incredibly discounted price in turn for letting him use my trailer for things like the Overland Expo and such.

Hey, if someone wants to pull it up and get it out on the rocks.. I won't stop them!

Got the lights finished up today and the fender flares on... took it over to Desert Title and all was good! Going to try and get the other little stuff done tomorrow / next week and it'll be ready to roll.

Felt like complete crap today... so I only worked a short time. Got the awning installed and the tool box cleaned up / painted. Hopefully during the week I"ll get the box mounted, the batteries mounted, and the solar stuff hooked up.

Looking great, Daniel.

It looks like the top rack is either removable or adjustable. How does that work with the tail light placement?

You are correct, the top rack extends up 16 inches so that when the awning is out and the tent is set up It clears a 6 foot + (me) person easily. Right now It takes two people to lift it up, but this winter after I get my tent I will be doing an electric actuator on each corner that will raise it with the push of a button. The wiring for the lights is run inside the tube and goes to the front where you can see there is a coil cord that moves with the rack as needed. Everything goes down that center tube and comes out into a junction box mounted under the tool box.
