Whats the statute of limitations if a gun is sent in the mail to me but I don't know who it belongs to? When does it become mine?

Ummmmm I thought you had to ship to FFL or something like that... Hmmm... That is a good looking gun.

Or a FedEx staffed facility and only if Express which I told the guy who sent it with a call tag that excluded it from my system. But he said he knew more than me and then SW sent it back to my store.
So I have no info on the guy

You can ship a gun back to the manufacturer for repairs without going through a FFL. (And when done, they can ship it direct back to you.)

You have to send it next day air also. I had to go to a UPS hub to ship it because the stupid UPS stores wouldn't accept it when I declared a firearm. Also, it's been about 7 years since I sent a pistol back for repair, so laws may have changed. BUT, I researched how to do it in depth and made sure I was within the law at that time. Also, I had to go back to UPS hub to claim when it came back. I think that was mainly because of the signature required and I wasn't home when they attempted delivery.

This is what I'd taken away from the shipping rules. But try to read UPS or FedEx's firearm rules on their web sites and get a clear repeatable answer. It's unpossible.
Also, the gun is still here.
