We made it back, 1 day before the CAT 5 hurricane hit. I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't there to experience it :)=)

We had a great time. The country is beautiful, lots of wildlife and the people were very friendly. Great thing about Belize is everyone speaks english, the power outlets are the same as here and they drive on the same side of the road as us.

Our hotel was very nice, great staff, clean, and comfortable rooms. Only downside was that we were 5 miles from the village so the majority of our meals were ate at the resort which got expensive

Here are some of the pics that I liked

View from our balcony

The pier... I was messing around with the settings on the camera and liked how this came out with a blueish tint.

Placencia village

At our resort

Negative edge pool at the resort

Maya Ruins

View from the ruins, looking south towards Guatemala

Termite nest

We were playing tennis at the resort and the tree near us kept moving. I looked up and spotted this

Sunset over the lagoon

The locals called this Crocodile Mountain

Wow, very nice.
Cool that there wasn't too too much culture change.
I really like the ocean pics and the step one.
This is my favorite:

Funny thing about that pic, I actually took 2 of them. The first one I had set the white balance to cloudy, second I set it to indoor flourescent lighting. The first pic came out okay, looked decent but I was thinking back to what I read from a photog sight. The guy said you arent trying to recreate reality, you are trying to create art. So I messed around with the camera again and got that pic. I liked it alot better

that looks like a lot of fun. How long a flight is that?

Flight wasnt very long at all, it took us 2 hours to get to texas, then a short 2 and a half hour flight to Belize city. From there we hopped on a small 12 passenger prop plane and had a 30 minute flight to Placencia and our resort

Pretty cheap to fly too, around $600 roind trip per person

If you decide to go there, bring lots of bug spray. The mosquitoes in the jungle are brutal. Within 10 seconds of walking around in there you are surrounded by a swarm of at least 20 buzzing around you. Try to get some repellant with a high concentration of Deet. >40%

Exchanging money was easy, but not necessary. Everyplace we ate at or shopped accepted US dollars and exchanged at a straight 2 for 1 trade. 2 Belizean dollars = 1 US dollar

Its a great place, it was never hotter then the mid 80's and the water was a nice 80-85 degrees. It was humid but its what youd expect for a tropical climate.
