Jim Caviezel @ CCV this weekend
#1
totally, totally off subject, but really cool none the less. Jim Caviezel (Passion of the Christ, Pay it Forward, Count of Monte Cristo, etc...) is speaking, being interviewed, and sharing his testimony at Christ Church of the Valley this weekend. I play keyboards in the worship band, so I was able to see him speak twice tonight, and I get to see him twice again tomorrow. I know it is incredibly short notice, but I wanted to extend an invitation to all to come to church with me tomorrow and hear Jim speak. I know it's a big church, but the music rocks (hehehe) and it's a very powerful service. If you want to come, call me @ 623-229-3375, or just show up. It's a real blessing. First service is at 9:30 AM and the second service is at 11:15 AM. Both services were packed tonight, so I expect a big crowd tomorrow as well. If you let me know you are coming, maybe you could come just after 1st service starts and I'll buy breakfast before second service! Thanks!!! - Alan

Dang it. Too short notice. I'm going to church with Bobert in the morn.

CCV's worship definitey puts it on my map. It's probably the best out there by far.
When we were going there last year, my Yellow Jeep sister (don't tell her I said so:) , said she really liked the lead singer guy. That he looked like a big huggable teddy bear :)=)
The bigness swallowed us up though and we never connected or met anyone there.
I got to thinking too that they not only slapped a sticker on your car while you were in service, but must hand out babies on the way in (even though I'd rather they just handed me the sticker, but then you might come out to find a baby print on your car).
I swear I've never seen so many beautifuly hot young parents. Just makes you sick. Just sick. Well, me at least.

LOL I know what you mean about the bigness... we played to more people in one service tonight than my entire home town. Connecting with small groups is the key. (I was fortunate enough to be in the band, and we connect as our own small group... oh - tell you sister that Andy is a big 'ol huggable teddy bear... and a very talented one at that!).

We have younger children and the kids programs are great, so it's a good match for us. I must have missed the baby passout... that or they thought we were too old. The stickers I like, though, because (just like your fish logos) it sometimes opens a conversation that can be awkward to get in to. That's all the sticker is there for: waiting for someone to say "What is that?"

It's cool, though, that there is a church for everyone, not just one church fits all. CCV is our cup of tea, it isn't for others, but finding a body of believers you connect with is what's important.

Black is black, white is white, and the Word is the Word. Period. But, it is very important to be held up, to be held accountable, and to grow with others. In case I haven't mentioned it... thanks for starting this forum. The off road interest has bitten me HARD, AND it's great to find another "small group" to connect with... especially one that knows how to have a good time!

Of course, I'm still looking for the scripture that says "And the Lord sayeth, 'Eat, Jeep, and be Merry' and all shall be well with you." I know it's in there somewhere! You guys have fun with Bobert. Offer is still open for breakfast with whoever happens to get up early enough to read this! - a

Which service do you go to? The contemporary or the alternative one?

I like the church we goto now but it is a little far of a drive. Is there a place online where I can listen to a sermon from your pastor? Trying to get an idea if I like the style of preaching
#6
We usually do the contemporary on Saturday night (it's dangerous enough for us "old" folks, but not as edgy as the alternative...), but the weekends I play it's all four services, so we aren't picky which one we attend. We just like the Saturday night because it's cooler and we can have all day Sunday as a family... plus it doesn't hurt that it drives my mom crazy that we got to church on Saturday... "that just isn't right! LOL"

go to www.ccvonline.com I don't know if they have services to download, but I have entirely too many services on DVD if you want to borrow a series or two. I have several from the alt and the contemporary if you want. We get volunteer DVD's the weekends we work, in case we miss any of the service, we can catch the whole thing at home. Shoot me a message if you want copies, or if you want to pick a time and we'll meet up and just go... I'm "easy like Sunday morning..."

As a side question: Where does everyone go to church? It would be interesting to see how many different churches have a least one "cool kid" with a Jeep... LOL

I know its a late post but the CCV Service will be @ Desert Springs Bible Church located at 16215 N. Tatum Blvd. Tonight @ 7pm

Worked back stage this weekend & its not the same, SO I plan to goto the Scottsdale service tonight, Jim wont be there LIVE but they will show a video of the interview.

Thanks, I think we might try it out for a few sundays

Weve been going to West Valley Bible church for about 10 months now but the small group Bible studys dont fit our schedule really. I like the pastor alot and like the style of his preaching but we havent gotten as involved as wed like

Before that I went to North Phoenix Baptist, my Dad was the college group leader there and most of us were involved with that for several years. Planning events and organizing games, ask Skatchkins about slpatadow or xtreme soap box derby. Im sure he has some great pics

Extreme soap box derbies?!?!?! Oh, do tell!

Cool. As with any church (especially big churches), it's more fun with someone you know, and even more fun with a Jeep Guy (or girl), so let me know and we'll go when it fits your schedule. I don't play again until late October, so I'm pretty flexible on services.

You know I love my church too. If anyone wanted to come to a service its Sunday at 1030 or 900. I have attended here for the last 15 years. I just got baptized 2 years ago (I was raised a JW so the Christian thing was a little hard to understand at 1st). Its on 7th ave just N of Glendale. FCC First Christian Church.
#11
Cool! Congrats, Nate. That is very cool (baptism, church home etc...). I kind of liked skatchkins idea of Jeep Storming different churches and visiting! I'm telling you, we need to plan the Phoenix Church Jeep (and Xterra) Tour... at least once a month.

Nate's church is good. It's where the Kuipers went after leaving North Phoenix. It's strong poing I'd say is the more cozy small town feel. They do have a great worship service too with kind of what I'd call a street sounding choir. Dana (YellowSub) and her fiance, Steve Kuipers' brother are going there now.

I like Bob's (well his sister's) church b/c they actually have an "after college" group: Kairos. North Phoenix's try at it with their 242 just became a weird older singles environment.
#14
FCC is good but I definately love the band at CCV! I connect more with the music and it's a more intimate setting when they dim the lights, too.

No Jim this weekend But Ill be on one of the 2 maned Cameras in the back so if anyone goes to any services this weekend feel free to stop by & say Hi :)
#16
Ill be there this coming sunday for the 11:15 service with my wife and sister

Chris - it was great to meet you and your wife and your sister. It was a pleasure. You certainly have a great family. I'm glad you got to meet Paul, too (Sc00by). As you can see, he really is as scary as you think he might be... LOL just kidding, Paul.

Sorry I had to run off at the end of service, but the other gentlemen you met this morning needed to talk, and I'm kind of a mentor for him and his wife. We're from the same home town (I used to play with him when I volunteered in the nursery of our old church growing up and he was just a toddler! Talk about feeling old some days...). They've only been married a year, and sometimes it's good to have an older Christian friend to talk to, who's been married a while. Jennifer and I hit the sixteen year mark this past year, with PLENTY of learning experiences along the way, so thank you for being understanding about that.

I'm looking forward to Sedona this weekend and meeting more of you hoodlums... I'll bring juice boxes and snacks for Nate. We soccer mom's do that, you know...
