| We were
in the mood for a no-hassle fun flexy day, so we decided to check out FR42
near Bartlett Lake. It's a good getaway in and of itself because even
though it's an easy hour away, it doesn't look like AZ at all. The trail is
almost totally devoid of rocks and there's even water and green stuff.
Special J did well again, but a couple of times he could've used the extra
inch of suspension of Offroadaz's RE (J's got the 3in from Teraflex- very
flexy with their 2-piece twisting FlexArms). This was just his second
trip out with his new Jeep, so he got some great opportunities to see how it
performed. 42 itself is choc-full of
off camber dips and some real steep hill climbs leaving us with plenty of
flexed out photo-ops. Once we got tired of the dirt, we headed down to
the water for some nice crossings on the Verde. We crossed a couple
times and ended up on a nice picturesque island, thus named "Jeep Island."
It was dark on the way out and we found that
even though most of the 42 was well marked, there were plenty of alluring
turn offs that led straight to nowhere. We made it out just the same
and next time we go we'll probably bring some fishing poles and maybe try
tubing a part of the river and see what happens.
On a side note, J came over a few days later
and we dechromed his Jeep, readying it for the next and assuredly more
challenging trails. |
