Quest for the Best Burger in AZ+
#81
A work buddy recommended Shenanigans on Bell last week, so we went to give it a try.

It was a good cheap burger. thin patty style, good bacon. 3 PBRs.

this link was on fox phoenix web site

during you travels maybe these spots are some places you might try also.
over all i feel this thread has a better look and photos compared to what was in this link. there were a few pics where i do not think would want to try that burger. nothing made it from arizona.

Russ, I never pictured you as a food and wine reader.

I've only been to a couple of these places. Now I have to plan my vacations around this list.

i have my moments. i love to cook and i am always looking for ideas to try or to make even better. going to introduce the family to curry really soon, that should be interesting!

I had Maize's signature burger. Just plain ok. Not something to get again.

Tonight I had the sourdough burger at Humble Pie. Excellent burger. I added avocado and bacon.
Was seriously good. Top 6.
Noel got the fig & prosciutto pizza and it was great. I'd get either again.
The lemoncello margarita was tasty as well.

I thought humble pie was a pizza place?

Doesn't mean they don't have burgers.

K, what I had last night was basically a burger and stupid good.

I got the Naco Torta at the Otro Cafe (by the Gallo Blanco people)
It was marinated grilled rib eye w/ 2 fried eggs lettuce, aji aoili & Guacamole all on a delicious flat bun.

Get this. You won't be disappointed.

The signature burger at Spoke and Wheel was really good

The atmosphere was excellent there as well.

My cell pic doesn't do it justice but I was impressed with how well this $10 southwestern burger tasted at Pier 54.
I've never had a pepper on a burger that flavorful. The meat was peppered very well. Bacon was a bonus.

This burger made it's own sauce. I'd go there just for it.
Of course the on water view is nice too.

Nice reviews. I already had plans to go to spoke and wheel for lunch on Monday. Now I'm really looming forward to it.

Also planning to check out Diablo Burger in flagstaff this weekend.

Tried Diablo burger in Flagstaff. I was going to try the Blutarsky, but they said the Big Daddy Kane is more popular and best for the first time. They serve it on an english muffin which was cool. Reba had the grilled cheese with a fried egg which was awesome. Fries were really good too. They had a few things on tap but I choose the Virgil's Root Beer. It was a bit pricey, but I'd give it an easy 4 PBRs.

Went to spoke and wheel for lunch on Monday. Spoke and Wheel Burger was amazing. jalapenos, sweet potato waffle fry, grilled onions and perfectly cooked burger. I think the bun is a croissant, it's really good. This place may top Windsor for the best burger in Phoenix. 5 PBRs for sure.

Bob told me about a new place in Scottsdale on Thu, So I went there on Friday. The line was out the door, but someone walked out and greeted me right away and told me it would only be a bout 15 mins to order, then gave some burger recommendations. You wander through a line, but you can order drinks when the line gets inside, and then order at a counter. They hold a table for you while you are in line and then bring the food out when it's ready. I didn't get that far, about 10 mins in they offered to seat me and my buddy at the bar. Great service from getting in line till leaving. Really good burger, decent fries, and a strange grate under the urinal that intrigued me for a while. I'll definitely go back and try another burger and one of their tap beers.

HopDoddy Burger Bar. I got The Classic Burger with bacon and cheddar. 4.5 PBRs. A serious contender. I was a little worried since it's all about local and organic which doesn't always translate to taste, but this was really good. The cheese was amazing, bacon was nice and thick, and cooked perfectly.

Thanks Bob!

Michael and I had lunch at Wally Burger today.

We both ordered the bbq burger, it was decent. Everything was fresh cooked and made to order. I think the owners were working the kitchen, they were friendly and we noticed the Jesus fish and a cross next to the register.

Food was pretty reasonably priced, mine included frys and a drink and came out to $6.10

They also serve Gyros, hot dogs and other sandwiches

Id give it a B-

Tastier than chain fast food for the same price. If you're looking for a cheap lunch and near 43rd and Peoria, you might want to check it out

I wouldn't even put Wally's burger on this list. I liked the people but the burger was cafeteria food.

I've been to the grayhawk location. It was a cool place, but the burger meat was not very flavorful. They have some really good burger options. Let me know if your experience is any better, I'm hoping it is so I can give it another try.

yah, but the figure 8 onion ring bumped it up from a C to b-

its an alternative to mcdonalds for me, but not in the same league as most of the other places weve tried

I thought for sure Habit Burger was in this thread already, but I didnt see it

Megan and I went to the location on 8th st and Glendale yesterday.

This is my new favorite $6 burger

For the price, I got a great burger, fries and a drink. We spent the same amount of money as we would at In N Out and got a far better burger

Extra points for the pepper bar next to the soda fountain. Got to throw on a ton of jalapenos and snack on green chili peppers while waiting for our food

Id give it a B

It gets an A if you're looking for something for 2 that comes to under $15

A regular burger that tasted not like cafeteria food but Great.
It had the usual suspects on it, nothing fancy to trick you into thinking it was special. No special sauces.
It's not in our neighborhood, it's just down the street from what I like to think is the 2wd city kid's version of a lake fire: Parking out on the dry Salt River levee across from Sky Harbor, watching the airplanes come and go.
Bob and I met at Mim's Burger (and Mexican food) (and fried catfish) (and BBQ) (and breakfast) last night.
A Cedric the Entertainer movie on the TV, a picnic table and 4 bar stools, and one black guy taking orders, cooking , and everything else. We both got the 1/2lb (double patty) and added cheese and bacon. The burger meat was damn flavorful on its own and the bacon was thick and crispy. The onion rings were super flavorful too. I'll hit this place up again when going again to see the pretty moving lights. I'd like to try his fried catfish too.
