I'd rate it as scenic-ish even for a Rubicon. Met Broken Taillight Matt on it. Avis had Red 1 standing by on it.

Yes! love that trail.

Where is it?

(I remember when we did trip reports.... I mean, trips.)

That's a great idea Michael. And probably good motivation to actually get me working on the rig again.

Can i do it in my cj? It's open/open.

Yes. The biggest obstacle is a hill.

Can I do it in my new Jeep?

Yes. You may need to bypass a section (no joke). The slot canyon. There is an interesting play spot at the end that could be interesting.
Sorry to clutter up your thread Avis. We'll reconvene this discussion after KOH on a new thread :)

No problem :)

That canyon is crazy narrow... Russ got wedged in there pretty good.

Ok. Sorry about the clutter.

Picked up some treads off craigslist today, metric version of 33s... I plan on running the old school rubicon rims. (Thanks Matt!)

Also, I pulled the flares off the other day because they were beat up pretty good and I hated them.

Ordered front rotors and pads, and wheel adapters to run the rubicon wheels. Did a once over real quick yesterday afternoon just to see what's what.. The motor has been replaced, and mileage is unknown (I knew going into it) but when the motor was swapped, lots of wiring and hoses were routed wrong, or just not secured properly. Power steering hose is tight against the lower radiator hose and has almost completely rubbed through, so I'll need to order a new RAD hose and get that taken care of. Other then that, it seems to be okay. Flywheel cover is missing on the front of the transmission.. guess they didn't feel like putting it on? lol I dunno. Nothing incredibly major, but little things that would've taken 2 min to take care of that'll end up taking me much longer now.

Only other thing I'm going to try and get done real soon is the getting the exhaust fixed.. sooo annoyingly loud. lol

Very cool, Daniel (seriously).

Upon that note, we should consider a run to Spare Tire Canyon if no one has mentioned it yet.

Are spare tires required?
#34
Got the wheels and tires bolted up today. I like it. Front end doesn't flex nearly as much as I expected it to. Disconnected the sway bar and everything.

#35
Wow. With long arms? Something binding or hitting?
#36
I couldn't see anything hitting, if I hung on the front corner I could get the springs to compress some more.. Something could be binding maybe, or maybe the springs are rated to stiff for the application,
#37
I expected something like this. Which is why I tested it because I was pretty positive it was going to rub somewhere.. lol

This was stock short arms

My guess is that the front end is setup to flex in relation to leafs in the rear. With the coils out back they are less resistant and flex more easily that the front. You either need stiffer springs out back or softer springs up front.

Rims and tires look great! You gonna dip em black or keep them as is?

This is a very good thought. I checked all the receipts he gave me, and it looks like Kevin ( Kevins Off Road ) installed all this stuff at the same time. But, kits are kits.. I doubt he thought of that.

I think I'm going to keep them like they are. I like them.

Also, I have your mud terrian tire you wanted back, and I also kept one of the other tires in case you wanted it.. no dry rot, and lots of tread. If you don't, I'll lose it somewhere.

Thanks Daniel. Just the mud terrain is fine. 2 spares is plenty for me.

...maybe ask alan if he needs it for his trailer. :))
