Those are nice! Same rims you had on the last red xj?
#64
Kinda the same, no idea if they are the exact same thing or not. Can't wait to get out and wheel a "hard" trail. Need to find some friends that wheel... Lol :p

Oh, and see that pile of wire under it? that's SOME of the crap I've been pulling out of this jeep. Some of it didn't even go anywhere..
#65
I'm in to wheel. Just gotta get a free weekend to work on it. :))

Got the brakes all done, and new extended stainless lines installed today. Wheels are on, and it's off the stands..

Also, hooked up a 3rd fan to help the cooling situation.. within a couple months, I"ll be buying hood vents, and hopefully shocks and also cutting the rear quarter panel down and fixing the wheel well.

Yeah, I did them on my last XJ. Pull the hood, trace, plasma cut, rivit in place and put the hood back on

Got the jeep put back together today and drove it for the first time in 3 weeks.. out of the driveway, and a very loud popping / cracking / clicking every time I turned drowned out even the broken exhaust filling my cab. lol So, went back to the shop and poked around and am 95% sure its the gear box.

Ordered a gearbox last night. Just need to pull the old one and go exchange it.. Any volunteers?
#74
I can help Sunday.

Got my Dads b-day stuff Sunday..

Got it pulled out this afternoon, just need to pick up the new one and a new line and put it back in.

Not sure when that's going to happen... lol maybe next weekend.

Well, I pulled the station wagon up north to mess around for a few days.. Nothing really more then some forest roads and nasty mud.

Chelcee having some fun...

Here's what I learned,

- It's gutless and has started to run absolutely awful. Will be pull plugs and doing a compression check soon..

- Large rocks and wet tires don't mix well... lol I was playing in a creek and slipped off a good size rock and landed directly on my tie rod, pushing it almost to the diff cover... :( Thankfully dirt doesn't eat up tires so it was whatever.

- The transmission works...sometimes.. just depends on it's mood really.

- The shocks are still blown but really aired down tires help lol

- Sometimes it dies.. completely random, no rhyme or reason. When it does die, it will turn over but not fire. Both times it has happened all i did was play with wires under the hood and it eventually fired back up.

- It's fun to tear around with it and not care about scratches/body damage or if I do actually break it. It's been a while since I've had something other then a full size to wheel and I am enjoying some of the hunter trails up there that are hidden and only accessible by ATV or Jeep.

- I think It'd be a fun rig if I could get it mechanically sound. It'll never run Die Hard, but for what it is it works pretty well. Just need to decide if it's worth fixing or replacing the motor.

Well... I'm keeping the jeep and fixing it. Might need to have a wrenching party in a few weeks stripping another XJ chassis of the motor and misc items. :)
