I am going to install my suck down winch prior to CO. I had already made a cab mount switch for that one. I took the controler for my regular winch appart and I think I will be able to cab mount my regular winch switch too. Me and electronic stuff... funny.

Busy Sunday today.

I installed an in cab winch control by using my existing external controller.

I also installed an ATV winch as a suck down winch to replace the one that died on me in February. The first picture is looking straight up under the front bumper...

I mounted the controller for the suck down winch in the cab.

I also wrapped up making the rear deck for the TJ in prep for the Colorado Trip. This is a specialty item for the trip and will not be a permanent fixture, but I still wanted it to be solid, not slide around on us, and be strong enough to stack a couple boxes, a cooler, and some back packs.

I bought garage tool organizer hooks for a couple bucks at home depot to make a hook system for the roll bar behind the seats.

I had to raise the rear of the deck four inches to make it level and I also didn't want it to slide side to side, so I screwed on a different type of garage tool organizer hook to prevent lateral movement.

I adjusted my original layout with a cut out for the air tank...

and the "raw particle board" look wasn't working for me, so even though it's a temporary shelf for a specific trip, I threw some camo paint on it to help it blend into the back. Ready go!

It's been six months since I bought the TJ. Here is a comparison pic. This CO trip is a time period "stake in the ground". After the CO trip the ORI's are going and the rig will start her development into a KOH mod stock rig. It'll be interesting to see her again in Jan 2012 and do another 6 month mark comparison of all three. I'm so glad I was able to get this rig. Big props to my wife for being so understanding. :)

Looking good Alan.

LOVE the new look, it's killer. Chelcee has already requested a bird for her hood... lol
#108
I know it's in another thread, but I wanted to make sure Mike's awesome hood art was documented in this build thread...

And yesterday began the 2012 KOH build (modified stock). I'll be starting a KOH specific thread, but wanted to update the changes that occured yesterday:

My babies (the ORI's) came off... (Pepsi can for reference only... I just wanted to remember how massive those things really were...)

and these Radflo Coilovers will be going on after next week (sorry... spy photos you know... can't show too much yet!)

Next on the list when Andrew is done with shocks is taking it to Joe @ AO for an auto tranny. Goodbye NV4500! We had such fun in Colorado. I'll (not) miss you. LOL
#110
Not much to report over the last 2 months, but I have sold the NV4500 as well as the ORI's as reported above.

Here are spy shots of the elusive new transmission going into my TJ. It's build and ready for install! Man I can't wait. It's "strong like bull". LOL

My "Daro Built" tranny is based on a 32RH, but with upgraded performance enhancing parts (I voted for stickers on the inside, but was voted down...)

Deep pan to keep it cool and fluid flowing when going up waterfalls...

mmmm shiney.

Sweet progress shots.

lord could you please bless alan with some more sun light so he can get more work done. he is slowly running out of hours and he could use some more day light hours so that he does not tear out his hair or stunt his growth, oh wait took late for that, and that he can have his jeep done for we rock. AMEN!

Well, it's been a year... my how things change.

Bought the rock crawler. It became a CO cruiser. Built it for KOH. Now it's a buggy...

there is a fun "that was then, this is now" thread on the VJC.

Here's my submission. Fun looking back.

I've had a few alterations...

... I did buy a known, built buggy in Jan 2011 that looked like this:

I updated it a bit:

and then I went a whole different direction with racing and this is how it looked 2 weeks ago:
